Over het boek

Kunst in de Westerse wereld heeft een complexe taal van symboliek gecreëerd en kunstenaars kanaliseren hun materiaal door deze taal om iets te communiceren naar hun publiek.

Het idee van kunst als communicatie is een fundamenteel aspect van de westerse esthetiek, net als de daaruit voortvloeiende verbinding tussen vorm en inhoud. Muziek wordt beschouwd als een taal van emoties en is “geluidsvormen in beweging”. Dit is het enige gemeenschappelijke punt met het idee van kunst in de oosterse wereld. Oosterse kunst communiceert via visuele effecten in bewegingen (ideogrammen) in plaats van via logo’s, het eenvoudige, sculpturale en dus onbuigzame woord.

Uitgaande van het Daoïsme nemen de auteurs van dit boek ons mee op een spannende reis door geluid, trillingen, luisteren en de effecten van luisteren, de repercussies ervan op energie en geest, lokaal en in het algemeen. Dit boek is origineel in zijn vorm en inhoud, met onverwachte facetten die in elk deel naar voren komen en in de manier waarop elk deel zich ontvouwt. De uitstekende inleiding geeft een zowel brede als synthetische visie op die complexe levensfilosofie die onder de naam Taoïsme valt, een filosofie en religie waarover vaak wordt gesproken en die even vaak verkeerd wordt voorgesteld, beknot en vervalst.
